Shukla, 65, may take over for three months before the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September, where he could contest for the full-time presidency.
Roger Binny’s Tenure as BCCI President
Roger Binny was elected as the 36th President of BCCI in October 2022, replacing former captain Sourav Ganguly, who completed his three-year term. Under Binny’s leadership, India won two ICC tournaments—T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025. His tenure also saw the launch of the historic Women’s Premier League (WPL), improvements in domestic cricket, and salary hikes for players.
Binny’s Contribution to Indian Cricket
An all-rounder in the 1983 World Cup-winning team, Binny represented India in 27 Test matches and 72 ODIs. He took 47 wickets in Tests and scored 830 runs, including five half-centuries. In ODIs, he secured 77 wickets and 629 runs with one half-century. His key role in India’s maiden World Cup victory in 1983 included being the highest wicket-taker for the team, with 18 scalps.
Binny’s Role in BCCI and Selection Committee
Before becoming BCCI President, Binny served as a member of the BCCI selection committee, influencing key team decisions. His contributions to Indian cricket, both as a player and administrator, have left a lasting impact on the sport.
