Chandigarh, April 7: The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed to have killed Haryana-based gangster Bhanu Rana in California, according to a viral social media post circulated on Tuesday. While the gang asserted that the killing was a retaliatory act against a “traitor,” official confirmation from international and domestic authorities remains pending.

In the social media statement, the group declared that they had vowed to eliminate Rana a year ago for allegedly working against their interests. “Whoever works against the country will be killed, no matter where they hide,” the post stated, further alleging that Rana had been providing information to rival criminal networks. The gang maintained that those supporting their enemies should be prepared for similar consequences.

Rana, a native of Karnal with a criminal record dating back to 2015, reportedly fled to the United States in 2023 using forged documents. Investigators noted that he was previously associated with the Bishnoi syndicate before distancing himself to align with rival factions. His history includes involvement in extortion, illegal arms possession, and violent shootouts between 2020 and 2022.

Law enforcement officials stated that the authenticity of the claim is currently being analyzed through coordination with U.S. authorities. Some reports from the California area have cast doubt on the incident, as local confirmation of a homicide involving Rana has not surfaced. The Haryana Special Task Force, which recently arrested Rana’s associates in connection with arms smuggling, affirmed that they are awaiting formal inputs before verifying the gang’s assertions.
