MANDI, April 16 — A bomb threat sent via email to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandi sparked a major security operation on Wednesday morning, prompting an immediate evacuation and deployment of bomb disposal experts.
The anonymous email, received in the early hours, warned of an explosive device planted inside the DC office building. Officials said the message claimed the premises would be blown up, prompting authorities to clear the building without delay. “The staff was evacuated as a precaution, and security teams launched a full-scale search operation,” a district administration official told The Himalayan Post.
The threat sent shockwaves through the area, with security forces cordoning off the building and placing the surrounding zone under high alert. Police confirmed that no explosives had been found during the initial sweep, but added that all protocols were being followed. “We’re treating the matter with full seriousness,” said a senior police officer at the scene.
A bomb disposal squad combed through the premises while cybercrime specialists joined the probe to trace the origin of the threatening message. According to sources, the email was received shortly after the office opened for the day, raising alarm among both staff and nearby residents.
Deputy Commissioner Arindam Chaudhary noted that steps had been taken to secure the area and ensure public safety. “There is no cause for panic. All security measures are in place, and the investigation is progressing,” he said.
As of late afternoon, no suspects had been identified, but police confirmed that efforts were ongoing to locate the source of the email. Law enforcement agencies continue to monitor the situation.
