Mathura, 23 January 2025: A 3-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs while playing outside his home in Kosi Kalan, Mathura, police said.
The tragic incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when Sofiyan, the child, was playing in the Eidgah Colony area.
A group of six stray dogs surrounded him, attacked, and dragged him, causing severe injuries.
Circle Officer Ashish Sharma described the horrifying scene: “Family members rushed to the boy’s aid and used sticks to drive the dogs away. But Sofiyan had already been gravely injured, with bite and claw marks across his body.”
Despite the family’s efforts to rescue him, Sofiyan succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The boy, the youngest of three brothers, leaves behind a grieving family.
Local police are urging the municipal administration to take immediate action to control the stray dog population and prevent such attacks in the future.
“This tragedy accentuates the need for stronger measures to address the growing issue of stray animals,” said Sharma.
