Ahmedabad, April 8: Dadi Ratan Mohini, chief administrator of the Brahma Kumaris and one of its most senior spiritual leaders, died early Tuesday at the age of 100.

She had been unwell for a week and was taken to the Trauma Centre in Shantivan, Abu Road, Rajasthan, on Sunday after her condition deteriorated. Around midnight, she was shifted to Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad, where she died at 1:20 a.m.

Her final rites will be held at Shantivan, the spiritual headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris in Abu Road. The schedule for the ceremony has not yet been announced.

Born on March 25, 1925, in Hyderabad (then part of undivided India’s Sindh province), Dadi Ratan Mohini—born Lakshmi—came from a devout and well-off family. She dedicated her life to spiritual service with the Brahma Kumaris, a global spiritual movement founded in the 1930s that teaches Raja Yoga meditation and promotes values of peace, purity and empowerment, especially for women.

Her 100th birthday was celebrated just days ago, on March 25.

Dadi Ratan Mohini became the second leader of the Brahma Kumaris to reach the age of 100, following Dadi Janki, who passed away in 2020. She took on global spiritual responsibilities early in her life, representing the Brahma Kumaris at the World Peace Conference in Japan in 1954. She later expanded the organization’s outreach through spiritual service in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and other parts of Asia.

“Dadi Ratan Mohini carried the vision of universal peace with deep inner strength,” the Brahma Kumaris said in a statement. “Her life remains a guiding light for millions across the world.”
