New Delhi, February 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Union Budget 2026-27 as a historic milestone that strengthens the nation’s reform journey while reflecting the aspirations of the entire population. Following the presentation by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Prime Minister noted that the fiscal plan provides a clear roadmap for achieving a developed India.

The Prime Minister characterized the budget as a foundation for the country’s journey toward 2047, suggesting it provides a new momentum to the “reform express.” He pointed out that the document balances high capital expenditure with a commitment to trust-based governance and a human-centric economic framework.

“Today’s budget is historic. It reflects the aspirations of 140 crore Indians,” PM Modi said. “It strengthens the reform journey and charts a clear roadmap for Viksit Bharat. This Budget is the foundation for our journey towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047. This year’s Budget will give India’s reform express new energy and new momentum.”

A significant focus of the Prime Minister’s address was the nation’s global economic standing and its resolve to move beyond current growth rates. He stated that the budget is designed to accelerate India’s transition into becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

“The 1.4 billion citizens of India are not satisfied with being just the fastest-growing economy,” the Prime Minister said. “We want to become the world’s third-largest economy as soon as possible. This is the resolve of millions of countrymen. This Budget further strengthens India’s global role.”

The Prime Minister also lauded the record-breaking feat of the Finance Minister, who presented her ninth consecutive budget. He observed that the financial plan significantly acknowledges the empowered presence of the nation’s feminine strength and provides an ambitious roadmap for ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.

Specific sectors, including MSMEs, were identified as key beneficiaries of the new fiscal policies. The Prime Minister mentioned that the support provided would allow local businesses to expand their reach to global markets.

The budget further prioritizes fiscal responsibility, focusing on reducing the deficit and containing inflation to ensure long-term economic stability.
