New Delhi, Jan 9: The Budget Session of Parliament will be held from January 28 to April 2, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Friday.
The session will begin with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in the Lok Sabha chamber. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey and present the Union Budget during the session.
However, Rijiju did not specify the date for the presentation of the Budget. February 1, traditionally observed as Budget Day, falls on a Sunday this year.
Parliament will adjourn for recess from February 13 and reassemble on March 9 for the second phase of the session.
“On the recommendation of the Government of India, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji, has approved the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2026,” Rijiju said in a post on X.
“The session will commence on January 28, 2026, and continue till April 2, 2026,” he added, noting that the first phase will conclude on February 13.
“The Houses will reassemble on March 9, which is a vital step towards meaningful debate and people-centric governance,” Rijiju said.
