New Delhi, 25 February 2025 — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approved draft norms for conducting Class 10 board exams twice a year starting in 2026, PTI reported.
The proposal aims to align with the National Education Policy’s (NEP) recommendation to reduce the high-stakes nature of board exams.
As per the draft, the first phase of exams is scheduled from February 17 to March 6, while the second phase is proposed from May 5 to 20.
“Both exams will cover the full syllabus, and students will be assigned the same examination center for both attempts,” a CBSE official mentioned.
The exam fees will be revised and collected during the application process.
The board will now invite feedback from stakeholders until March 9 before finalizing the policy. The NEP allows students to take board exams twice in an academic year, giving them an opportunity to improve scores.
