New Delhi, Nov 12: New CCTV footage has emerged showing the precise moment a car exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, sparking panic among pedestrians and motorists.
The video, recorded by a surveillance camera at the Red Fort crossing, shows normal traffic movement moments before a sudden fireball engulfs the frame. Screams and chaotic movements follow as people run for safety.
The blast occurred around 6:50 pm, producing a red flash that stunned bystanders and triggered widespread panic, according to officials. “The footage confirms the timing of the explosion that investigators had already established,” a senior police officer said.
Authorities identified the vehicle involved as an i20, driven by Dr. Umar Nabi, an assistant professor at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana.
“The video offers crucial insight into how quickly the situation escalated,” the official added, noting that the footage will help in reconstructing the sequence of events leading to the blast.
Investigators are now analysing the CCTV frames to determine the exact cause of the explosion and whether any foul play was involved.
