CHANDIGARH, February 24, 2026 — The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday blocked five Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms for broadcasting obscene and vulgar content. Officials stated that the platforms—MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu—were restricted following the completion of established legal procedures.
The government has directed internet service providers to terminate access to these services under the Information Technology Rules, 2021, and existing statutes regarding obscenity. This move is intended to uphold public decency and ensure that digital platforms adhere to ethical practices and national interests.
Officials noted that the intervention was carried out under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. This legislation provides the government with the necessary authority to restrict online content to safeguard the public and maintain social standards.
The ministry asserted that the procedure involves a thorough review of digital content to ensure compliance with the law. This latest action reflects a continued commitment to monitoring digital media and enforcing regulations against the dissemination of inappropriate material.
