Anandpur Sahib, November 25, 2025: An unusual blend of heritage and devotion captivated thousands of devotees attending the ongoing 350th martyrdom anniversary commemorations of Guru Tegh Bahadur in Anandpur Sahib, where a 95-kg dastar and a century-old nagara became the centre of attention.

Baba Avtar Singh, who arrived from Odisha wearing the massive turban, said he undertook the effort to spread Sikh teachings. “Guru Tegh Bahadur stood for sacrifice and humanity. This dastar is my tribute to him,” he said, as people surrounded him in admiration throughout the day.

The celebrations also featured Mahant Baba Darshan Dass from Amritsar, who brought what he described as his 100-year-old nagara. The instrument resounded across the venue each time he played it in remembrance of the Guru. “This nagara has witnessed countless gatherings. Bringing it here is both responsibility and honour,” the Mahant said.

Officials noted that the two figures drew exceptional public curiosity, giving the commemorations a deeper cultural and spiritual flavour. The events in the holy city continue to draw heavy footfall ahead of the anniversary’s culmination.
