Mohali: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched the distribution of 1.26 crore Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna cards during a ceremony in Mohali, extending a annual health safety cover of up to ₹10 lakh to 54 lakh families across the state. The administration has already spent ₹1,310 crore on medical treatments for more than 7 lakh patients under the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that the scheme offers completely free and unconditional cashless treatment across empanelled public and private medical institutions. He asserted that the primary objective of the administration is to shield ordinary households from severe financial strain and debt caused by unexpected critical illnesses.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the medical coverage includes 2,356 treatment packages across more than 900 empanelled hospitals, encompassing high-cost procedures such as kidney transplants, cardiac care, cancer treatment, and emergency surgical interventions. He noted that advanced surgeries are now being conducted within state-run medical facilities under the program.
The administration has planned a multi-stage rollout to distribute the remaining cards, holding village camps across 1,800 locations alongside door-to-door deliveries by Sehat Mitras and ASHA workers. Bhagwant Singh Mann maintained that the government remains committed to strengthening state healthcare networks without imposing additional financial burdens on citizens.
