Chandigarh, June 18: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking a “bold and visionary” diplomatic step by restoring relations with Canada, calling it a significant relief for the Punjabi diaspora.
Chugh said the move, achieved without compromising India’s sovereignty, demonstrates the country’s growing global stature and assertive foreign policy.
Referring to PM Modi’s meeting with Canadian PM Mark Carney, Chugh said both leaders reaffirmed commitments to democracy, sovereignty, and law enforcement cooperation, especially in counter-terrorism.
Calling it a “new beginning for cross-border Punjabi ties,” Chugh said the decision will restore trust and ease for lakhs of Punjabi families with loved ones studying, working or living in Canada.
