Chugh Urges Global War on Terror in Tribute to Kanishka Martyrs

DUBLIN/NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, June 24 — Paying homage to the 329 victims of the 1985 Air India Kanishka bombing, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Monday called for a united global war against terrorism and praised the Indian diaspora’s enduring contribution to India’s growth story.

During an interaction with members of the Overseas Friends of BJP in Ireland and the Indian community at the Embassy of India in Dublin, Chugh stressed the need for a coordinated international response to eradicate terrorism from its roots.

“Terrorism, in whatever form, must be condemned unequivocally. The world must come together to dismantle its financial networks and ensure no more innocent lives are lost,” Chugh said, marking the solemn anniversary of the Kanishka bombing.

He called the 1985 bombing “not just an attack on India, but an attack on humanity,” and urged nations to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a terror-free world.

Chugh also drew attention to India’s firm stance under Modi’s leadership. “India today speaks with clarity and courage on global platforms. This is New India—strong, decisive, and intolerant of terrorism in any form,” he said.

Citing Operation Sindoor, Chugh accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of orchestrating attempts to destabilize India. “Such nefarious designs will always be defeated by the unity of our people and the resolve of our leadership,” he asserted.

The BJP leader’s outreach also centered on “Viksit Bharat 2047,” Prime Minister Modi’s roadmap for a developed India. Chugh said India’s recent leap to becoming the fourth-largest economy was powered not only by domestic reforms but also by the unwavering support of Indians abroad.

“The contribution of the Indian diaspora in areas like manufacturing, exports, and services is invaluable. You are the extended arm of India’s success story,” he told community members.

Chugh noted that India’s elevated stature on global forums is a direct outcome of Modi’s foreign policy. “India is no longer seen as a bystander. We are a decisive force, and every Indian abroad today commands respect,” he said.

Urging the diaspora to act as cultural ambassadors, he called on them to preserve and promote India’s heritage while inspiring the next generation. “Be proud bearers of India’s values and achievements,” he said.

The community members in Dublin pledged to contribute to the vision of a Developed India by 2047 and expressed continued support for Modi’s leadership and initiatives.
