New Delhi, July 20: Union Minister JP Nadda agreed to hold high-level discussions with representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party following a massive youth demonstration that converged near Parliament Street despite heavy security arrangements. Thousands of young demonstrators breached police blockades to register their protest, raising slogans regarding issues affecting the nation’s youth.
Addressing the media during the demonstration, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that the leadership would provide further details on the next steps shortly.
“We will communicate about the march in some time,” Ashutosh Ranka stated. “All I have to say is that the government is under a lot of pressure, and that itself is a victory.”
Security forces temporarily sealed key access routes leading toward Parliament and put prohibitory orders into effect as over 8,000 demonstrators initially assembled at the primary protest location. Security personnel briefly utilized mild physical force near the Patel Chowk Metro station to manage crowds attempting to move toward Jantar Mantar. Following brief scuffles near the SBI Building on Sansad Marg, the procession was allowed to proceed along the designated route.
The nationwide youth movement gathered momentum following concerns over alleged irregularities in the 2026 NEET examination, with demonstrators seeking accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Adding weight to the movement, Ladakh-based climate activist and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Sonam Wangchuk maintained that his three-week-long hunger strike remains tied to the outcomes of the march.
“I will end my fast if the Centre accepts responsibility for issues such as the paper leak, or if CJP leaders and I are allowed to reach Parliament and receive assurances from Members of Parliament that the matter will be raised,” Sonam Wangchuk declared.
