FARIDKOT, MARCH 30— A coordinated effort between the Bhagwant Mann Government and local residents has resulted in a sharp decline in criminal activity across Faridkot district. Official data released on March 29 indicates that crime has fallen by over one-third, while the police have successfully recovered assets in nearly all reported snatching cases.
This progress is rooted in the “Operation Prahar” framework, which prioritizes regular coordination between police and Village Defence Committees (VDC). Local coordinators Rajwinder Singh and Sukhjeet Singh Dhilwan affirmed that the integration of CCTV surveillance has been a game-changer for village security. They stated that real-time access to highway feeds has enabled authorities to track and apprehend anti-social elements with unprecedented speed.
Senior Superintendent of Police Pragya Jain maintained that the success of the campaign relies heavily on the active participation of citizens across all age groups. She declared that the promptness of police response has solidified a bond of trust with the community, encouraging more residents to share information about local peddlers. This grassroots intelligence has been instrumental in breaking the cycle of drug-related offenses in the region.
In addition to enforcement, the district is focusing on holistic outreach to prevent future drug abuse. Officials noted that the campaign includes sapling distribution and social awareness programs designed to engage the youth. By combining strict law enforcement with community-driven development, the administration affirmed that Faridkot is now serving as a benchmark for other districts in the state’s ongoing battle against narcotics.
