Jalandhar, December 10, 2024: Ahead of the Municipal Corporation elections, the Congress has suffered a significant blow in Jalandhar with Mayor Jagdish Raja switching allegiance to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Alongside him, Ward 65 Councilor Anita Raja also joined AAP, bolstering the party’s position in the city.

Jagdish Raja, representing Ward 64 since 1991, made the move in a key political shift. Anita Raja, a former senior deputy mayor, accompanied him, further signaling AAP’s growing influence in Jalandhar.

The announcement took place in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Cabinet Minister Mahinder Bhagat, and Punjab AAP Vice President Shamsher Singh Kalsi. The defection is seen as a boost for AAP ahead of the upcoming elections.
