Chandigarh, October 25, 2024: Renowned Sufi singer Satinder Sartaj faces legal trouble as a court issued summons concerning his upcoming event scheduled for November 10 at Guru Nanak Stadium in Kapurthala.

A player and lawyer filed a petition opposing the commercial use of the stadium, arguing it would disrupt athletes’ regular practice and potentially damage the facility.

The court has named Satinder Sartaj, his production company Firdos Productions, Punjab’s Secretary of Sports, and the Director of Sports as defendants, with the District Sports Officer, S.S.P. Kapurthala, and S.P. Traffic also included in the case.

According to petitioner S.S. Malli, the commercial nature of the event conflicts with the stadium’s designated purpose, which is to support public welfare and sports, not profit-driven activities. Advocate Ranbir Rawat stressed that stadium rules permit events only if they serve public welfare.

Despite 80% of tickets already sold, the event has not received official clearance.

District Sports Officer Shashwat Razdan confirmed that approval rests with the Punjab State Sports Council, headed by the Chief Minister, as the file is still under review by the Director of Sports.
