CSK vs RR: Rajasthan’s Victory by 6 Runs Leaves Fans on Edge!

CSK vs RR Match Highlights: The second match of the IPL double header on Sunday was full of excitement, where Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 runs. Batting first, Rajasthan had scored 182 runs. Chennai’s team could only score 176 runs in 20 overs. Fans hoped that MS Dhoni would lead the team to victory with his explosive batting, but this time he could not do wonders.

CSK vs RR: Rajasthan bowlers’ brilliant performance

Chennai’s innings got off to a very bad start. Chasing a target of 183 runs,in-form batsman Rachin Ravindra was run out for zero in the very first over by Jofra Archer. After this, Rahul Tripathi and captain Rituraj Gaikwad tried to handle the innings by sharing a 46-run partnership. Tripathi scored 23 runs off 19 balls, but was caught by Wanindu Hasaranga.

Shivam Dubey, who came as an impact player, hit 18 runs in 10 balls, which included 2 sixes and 1 four. His short but fast innings made it seem that Chennai could make a comeback, but Hasranga sent him to the pavilion as well. After this, Vijay Shankar was bowled by Hasranga after scoring 9 runs. Captain Rituraj Gaikwad held one end and scored 63 runs in 44 balls, which included 7 fours and 1 six. But he too became a victim of Hasranga.

Dhoni could not do wonders

When MS Dhoni came to the crease after Rituraj was out in the 16th over, a wave of enthusiasm ran in the stadium. At that time Chennai needed 54 runs in 25 balls. Fans were sure that ‘Thala’ would do wonders again today. But in Sandeep Sharma’s 17th over, Dhoni and Jadeja could score only 9 runs. There was no boundary in Mahesh Theekshana’s next over as well and only 6 runs were scored, which increased the pressure further.

Chennai needed 20 runs in the last over and Dhoni was on strike. Dhoni was caught out on the first right ball after Sandeep Sharma’s wide. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs in 11 balls and the fans were heartbroken. Ravindra Jadeja scored 32 runs in 22 balls but the team remained away from the target due to not being able to play big shots.

Nitish Rana played a brilliant innings

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals scored 182 runs while batting first. Nitish Rana batted brilliantly after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket fell in the first over. He played a brilliant innings of 81 runs in 36 balls, which included 5 sixes and 10 fours. His innings took Rajasthan to a strong score, which eventually proved to be too much for Chennai.
