Gurugram, Aug. 17 — Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Singh Hooda, on Sunday attacked the Haryana government over what he called a complete collapse of law and order, citing the firing incident earlier in the day outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence in Gurugram.
“Law and order in Haryana has completely collapsed. This is not just my statement. Two days ago, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini himself claimed there had been improvement in law and order. If you see the comments under his video, even BJP workers were saying, ‘Nayab Singh ji, please take this seriously,’” Hooda told reporters.
He made the remarks while attending a programme at the new bus stand in Rohtak to pay tribute to Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra, where he and other Congress leaders, including newly appointed district urban president Parag Gaba, garlanded Dhingra’s statue.
Hooda alleged that Haryana has now turned into “Extortion Pradesh.” Quoting crime data, he said, “As per the Union Home Ministry’s crime records, Haryana has become number one in the country in terms of crime.”
The Congress leader pointed out that even the state’s Special Task Force (STF) had acknowledged that 80 gangs are openly operating across Haryana. “Some operate from abroad, some from inside jails. The criminals are not afraid of the police administration anymore, because they know the real control of power lies elsewhere — in Delhi,” he said.
Referring to the recent murder of a teacher in Bhiwani, Hooda demanded strict and immediate action. “The entire state is demanding swift justice. The police must immediately trace and arrest all the culprits and ensure they are given strict punishment. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure speedy justice,” he noted.
He further accused the state government of failing to protect citizens and claimed law enforcement agencies were not taking the chief minister’s words seriously. “This shows how badly law and order has collapsed in Haryana,” Hooda added.
