NEW DELHI, OCT 11: Senior leadership of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), including Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, have been released from police custody following a period of preventive detention. Legal affairs head Ratna Singh confirmed the development, noting that the release orders were issued subject to specific administrative conditions aimed at maintaining public peace and tranquillity over the coming year.
The preventive action arose after law enforcement officials withheld authorization for a planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar, citing non-compliance with statutory notice requirements and alleged breaches of earlier undertakings. According to official statements, the political group had failed to submit its application within the mandatory ten-day timeframe required for organizing public gatherings at the venue.
Following their production before an Executive Magistrate at the Delhi Cantt Police Station, the party functionaries were granted release upon agreeing to undertakings regarding public order. Representatives from the organization maintained that party leaders intend to outline the specific circumstances surrounding their custody during a scheduled press briefing.
The attempted demonstration had been organized to express opposition regarding electoral administrative processes and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The preventive measures resulted in the temporary detention of several party members and associates prior to the scheduled event.
