DELHI, September 24: — Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Partha Sarathy or “Delhi Baba,” is facing serious allegations of sexual harassment and molestation from students at Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management in Vasant Kunj. Seventeen female students pursuing postgraduate management diploma courses under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) scholarship have accused him of sending lewd messages, using abusive language, and making unwanted physical contact.
The institute, affiliated with the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetha in Sringeri, a prominent South Indian spiritual organisation, has distanced itself from the self-styled godman. Officials said his conduct was “illegal, inappropriate, and detrimental” to the institution’s interests.
Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who has been living in the Vasant Kunj ashram for the past 12 years, is currently evading police. Delhi Police have launched raids and surveillance operations to locate him, with his last known location reportedly near Agra. Authorities have registered a case and are actively investigating the allegations.
Police have recorded statements from 32 female students, 17 of whom alleged harassment. Investigators also seized a Volvo car with fake diplomatic number plates (39 UN 1) from the institute’s basement, which the accused allegedly used. Authorities are verifying the authenticity of the plates.
The institute has removed him from his position and expelled him. Officials added that the ashram had not acted on two prior molestation cases filed against him in 2009 and 2016.
“This behaviour is unacceptable and completely against the values of our institution,” the institute said in a statement, underlining its commitment to safeguarding students.
Authorities continue to track Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati while urging anyone with information to come forward.
