NEW DELHI, OCT 17 — A Delhi court issued a bailable warrant against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in connection with a long-pending 2018 criminal defamation complaint. The directive was passed after court officials reported that process servers were unable to deliver summons as his Gurugram residence was found locked.
Judicial Magistrate Rahul Jain issued the warrant during proceedings on Saturday in a matter filed by BJP IT cell member Vikas Pandey over content published on Rathee’s video platform.
“The complainant had been trying to serve the summons for several years,” the court noted during earlier proceedings when fresh notices were directed to his Haryana location.
Advocate Samaksh Sharma, representing the complainant, maintained before the bench that the respondent typically resides in Austria and had traveled to India recently to attend public demonstrations in the national capital.
