Hoshiarpur/Amritsar, March 18 —SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami confirmed today that he will continue in his role after meeting with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. Dhami said he would resume office in the next three to four days.
The announcement came after Sukhbir, accompanied by senior SAD leaders, visited Dhami at his residence and persuaded him to withdraw his resignation.
On Monday, the SGPC Executive Committee had rejected Dhami’s resignation and urged him to reconsider, ahead of the SGPC’s budget session on March 28, which, under the Gurdwara Act, must be chaired by the president.
