Chandigarh, October 26 — Dr. Tarunjit Singh Butalia, Executive Director of Religions for Peace USA, has received the lifetime achievement award from Minhaj University, Lahore, in recognition of his decades-long dedication to interfaith harmony and the preservation of Sikh heritage.
The honour was conferred during the two-day 8th International Conference on World Religions, hosted by Minhaj University. The award was presented by the university’s Chairman, Dr. Hussain Qadri, and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S.M. Shahzad. Bishop Samuel Robert Azariah, Director of the Christian Study Center in Rawalpindi, was also presented with the national lifetime award at the same event.
The conference, held under the theme “Building Resilient Societies: Preventing Extremism at its Roots,” gathered faith leaders and scholars from across the world to deliberate on ways to strengthen interfaith dialogue and promote social cohesion amid global polarization.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Butalia expressed his gratitude to the university and organisers, calling the recognition “a tribute to the collective efforts of all those advancing interfaith cooperation across the globe.” He noted that dialogue remains central to “healing divisions and fostering mutual respect among diverse communities.”
Delegates lauded Dr. Butalia’s enduring role as a global ambassador of peace and a bridge-builder among cultures and faiths. His recognition reaffirmed his place among the foremost voices championing interreligious understanding and peaceful coexistence worldwide.
