Rohtak, Feb 7: A major infrastructure push to solve the issue of standing water in Rohtak’s agricultural belt is moving into the implementation phase following a high-level meeting between BJP leader Krishan Murti Hooda and Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta. The projects, valued at Rs 53 crore, are intended to provide a permanent drainage solution for several affected villages where waterlogging has halted farming activities.

The meeting focused on the urgency of the June 30 deadline, as farmers have already suffered significant losses, including the inability to plant the current rabi crop. The Deputy Commissioner assured that the administrative work is progressing, with tenders for various schemes being finalised to ensure the machinery is on the ground shortly.

“The DC played a crucial role in getting these projects approved on time and is personally overseeing their implementation,” Krishan Murti said after the meeting. He noted that the Chief Minister took a personal interest in the matter to ensure the funds were allocated quickly.

The former minister mentioned that the proactive approach of the state government marks a significant change for the district’s farmers. He noted that while the plight of the farming community had been overlooked in the past, the current focus on allocating substantial resources provides a clear path to relief for a large number of growers.

Once the projects are operational, they are expected to protect thousands of acres from the recurring damage caused by heavy rains. Krishan Murti noted that the success of these schemes would be a major milestone for the district, and the community looks forward to honoring the officials involved once the drainage systems are fully functional.
