Saifai, April 4: A drone crash in an agricultural field in Nandpur village, Saifai, triggered a security scare on Saturday, leading former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to lambast the state administration for failing to notify the public about such trials. The incident occurred as regional tensions in West Asia dominated global news cycles, causing local residents to mistake the unmanned aircraft for a stray missile.
The Samajwadi Party president maintained that the state government should have alerted citizens before allowing experiments in populated areas. He stated that the lack of prior information caused unnecessary mental trauma and posed a significant risk to life and property.
“If this was part of any government test or experiment, the citizens of the state should have been informed and alerted in advance,” Yadav declared in a statement. He further asserted that if the craft had fallen on a nearby settlement instead of a field, the accident could have resulted in serious casualties.
Etawah district police later responded to the concerns, affirming that the fallen object was a prototype belonging to a private company. Officials stated that the drone’s components were secured for safety and confirmed that no injuries or loss of life occurred during the incident.
The former Chief Minister also used the occasion to criticize the maintenance of the Saifai airstrip. He remarked that the local population is questioning the government’s ability to manage aviation infrastructure if they cannot successfully oversee a drone flight. Yadav demanded an investigation into the crash and sought immediate compensation for the farmer whose land was affected.
