Drone Falls During Training in Ambala Civilian Area

AMBALA, July 21 — A quadcopter drone involved in an army training exercise crash-landed in an open civilian area in Dhulkot, Ambala on Sunday afternoon after reportedly experiencing a technical malfunction, according to an official army statement.

The drone lost contact with its operators around noon during a routine sortie being conducted as part of post-Operation Sindoor training drills. “Enhanced training post Operation Sindoor is being undertaken, in which on July 20, at about 1200 hrs, a quadcopter while on a training sortie lost contact due to a technical snag and fell in open area of Dhulkot, Ambala. No damage to property or injury to anyone was caused,” the Army stated.

Authorities confirmed that there was no harm to residents or damage to property in the vicinity. Police from Baldev Nagar station were informed shortly after the incident and reached the site to initiate preliminary checks.

Later, personnel from the defence establishment arrived and retrieved the drone for further inspection. Officials did not disclose the specific model of the quadcopter or the nature of the technical issue but maintained that safety measures were in place and training operations would continue.

The army is conducting intensified drone exercises following Operation Sindoor, which has led to an uptick in UAV usage and technical handling drills.
