Giddarbaha, October 12, 2024: The Election Commission has halted the Panchayat election process for the sarpanches of 24 villages in the Giddarbaha Block, citing suspicions of fraud related to the withdrawal of nominations.
According to ECI, concerns arose when discrepancies were noted in the signatures on nomination and withdrawal forms.
Allegations of fraudulent activities were brought forward by members of the Congress and Akali Dal parties, as stated in media reports.
In response to these allegations, prominent leaders including Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and Congress President Raja Waring staged a dharna to protest the situation.
