New Delhi, July 19: The Union government is set to introduce critical economy-related legislations, including amendments to the Income Tax and MSME frameworks, during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. According to the legislative and financial business agenda circulated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, these proposals aim to stabilize the domestic market and streamline operations for small businesses. The parliamentary session will commence on Monday, July 20, and is scheduled to conclude on August 13.
Official documents indicate that the new Income-tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, will replace an existing Ordinance. Authorities stated that the measure seeks to deepen the sovereign debt market and attract steady global capital inflows. Officials maintained that these steps are necessary to enhance liquidity as the domestic market navigates global macroeconomic volatility, rising crude oil prices, and persistent supply chain disruptions.
Parallelly, the government is moving forward with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The draft agenda affirmed that the legislation intends to modernize the original 2006 Act by introducing trust-based regulations. The proposed changes are designed to address the issue of delayed payments to small units, ensure the strict enforcement of arbitral awards, and grant state governments the administrative flexibility to set up additional dispute resolution councils.
The parliamentary session will also address previously introduced legislative business. The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, which has been pending in the Lok Sabha since March 25, is officially listed for consideration and final passage over the next three weeks.
