ED Raids NCR Call Centres in ₹130-Crore Scam

New Delhi, August 23: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday said it carried out raids in Delhi and Gurugram against operators of an “illegal” call centre racket that allegedly defrauded US citizens of nearly ₹130 crore. The agency said the accused lived in luxury homes and amassed assets worth more than ₹100 crore with the money earned through the cyber fraud.

According to the ED, searches were conducted on August 20 at premises linked to three accused — Arjun Gulati, Divyansh Goel and Abhinav Kalra. The investigation stems from a CBI FIR which alleged that the men, in criminal conspiracy, operated call centres across the NCR to cheat foreign nationals between November 2022 and April 2024.

“These individuals were running call centres in Noida and Gurugram under the guise of providing technical support to US nationals,” the agency said in its statement. “They gained unauthorised access to victims’ bank accounts, diverted funds abroad, and later brought the money back into India through multiple layers of transactions.”

The ED claimed the network defrauded victims of nearly USD 15 million (about ₹130 crore) during the 17-month period. More than 200 bank accounts were allegedly used to launder the money before routing it into accounts controlled by the accused in India.

The probe agency said that the fraud proceeds were used to purchase high-end properties and luxury goods. “The accused persons were residing in lavish houses and acquired multiple assets valued at over ₹100 crore from the proceeds of crime,” the ED noted.

As part of the raids, the ED froze 30 bank accounts and seized eight luxury cars along with several expensive watches. The searches also uncovered details of layered transactions across domestic and foreign banks.

The case is being pursued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED said further investigation is underway to identify additional beneficiaries and track the overseas money trail.
