Rajya Sabha MP records 100 percent attendance and leads state in Budget Session queries

New Delhi/Chandigarh, April 9: A comprehensive display of parliamentary engagement, Shri Satnam Singh Sandhu has established himself as the most active representative from Punjab during the recently concluded Budget Session 2026.

Sandhu, a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha, outpaced all other MPs from the state by submitting a total of 51 questions, addressing a wide array of local and national concerns.

The data from the session indicates that Sandhu utilized his full quota of legislative opportunities, filing 217 questions in total to reach the upper limit permitted by parliamentary rules. Of the 51 questions accepted for the floor, 41 were unstarred, while five were starred and five were supplementary.

These inquiries were notably diverse, with 15 focusing specifically on Punjab and Chandigarh, while others touched on education, agriculture, the economy, and foreign policy.

Beyond his inquiry record, the MP maintained a perfect attendance record of 100 percent throughout the session.

He actively participated in high-level discussions, delivering two major speeches on the Union Budget during the ‘Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address’ and the ‘Discussion on the Appropriation Bill 2026’.

Additionally, he introduced three Private Member Bills, including the National Ranking and Accreditation Authority for Higher Educational Institutions Bill and the Kisan Jeevan Suraksha Evam Durghatna Pratipurti Vidheyak.

Administrative observers stated that such high levels of participation are vital for ensuring that regional issues are effectively brought to the center.

Sandhu affirmed his commitment to the state’s development, noting that his focus remains on bridging the gap between local needs and national policy through consistent legislative action.
