Moga, March 8: A 70-year-old security guard died Sunday after being attacked by a stray bull near Nathoke village in Moga district. The victim, Mangal Singh, was a resident of Gholia Khurd village and was returning from his night shift at a local rice mill when the incident occurred.
Witnesses stated that the attack took place around 10 a.m. as Singh was cycling home. A group of bulls was reportedly fighting on the roadway, and as Singh attempted to navigate past them, one animal charged. The bull reportedly tossed the elderly man into the air before he fell onto the pavement, causing severe injuries.
“Passersby rushed to Singh’s aid and immediately transported him to a nearby medical facility,” authorities noted. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The Bagha Purana police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The action followed a statement provided by the victim’s son, Kulwant Singh. Police affirmed that the body was handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination.
Residents of Gholia Khurd have expressed deep frustration following the death, citing the administration’s failure to address the growing stray cattle population. They maintained that the lack of effective management continues to pose a significant risk to commuters and pedestrians in the region.
