Dera Baba Nanak, March 2 —An elderly couple was shot at by unidentified assailants while returning home after having langar in Sarawali village of Dera Baba Nanak. The elderly man succumbed to his injuries, while his wife, critically wounded, has been referred to Amritsar for treatment.
Punjab Police officials confirmed that the shooting occurred at night. “Multiple teams have been formed, and a thorough investigation is underway to identify and arrest the culprits,” said an SP-rank officer.
Relatives of the victims and the village sarpanch said the couple was ambushed on their way home. Police reached the scene and began their probe, collecting evidence from the site.
