New Delhi, March 15: The Election Commission of India is set to announce the full schedule for upcoming Assembly elections in four states and one Union Territory during a press conference at 4 pm this Sunday. Voters in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Puducherry will learn the specific dates for their respective polls as the terms of their current legislative bodies approach expiration.
A spokesperson for the poll authority stated that the finalized schedule will address the various logistical requirements for each region. The official affirmed that the announcement follows the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision of the voters’ list across all participating jurisdictions.
“The commission has evaluated the ground situation and is prepared to facilitate the democratic process in the four states and Puducherry,” a senior official declared during the preparations for the briefing.
Officials maintained that the final electoral rolls have already been published, ensuring that the voter database is current ahead of the polling window. The terms of the existing Assemblies are slated to conclude on various dates throughout May and June, necessitating a synchronized but distinct polling calendar for each territory.
