Lucknow, October 18 – In a strong warning to Pakistan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said every inch of Pakistan’s territory is within range of the BrahMos missile system, adding that “what happened during Operation Sindoor was just a trailer.”
Speaking at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Sarojini Nagar, where the first batch of BrahMos missiles was rolled out, Singh said the supersonic cruise missile has become a symbol of India’s rising strength and strategic confidence. “BrahMos is not just a missile, it is proof of India’s self-reliance and a key pillar of our Army, Navy and Air Force,” he said.
The minister, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, flagged off the first consignment from the state-of-the-art missile integration and testing facility. “Every inch of Pakistan lies within range of BrahMos. Operation Sindoor was only a trailer. If India could create Pakistan, then if the time comes… I need not say more,” Singh said, drawing applause from the gathering.
He said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s military capability and the effectiveness of the BrahMos system. “Victory is no longer an event for us—it has become a habit,” he said. “The operation instilled confidence among Indians and showed the world what India is capable of.”
Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure and defence installations in Pakistan in May, weeks after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 people. Indigenously developed BrahMos missiles were used to target Pakistan’s air bases during the operation.
Singh said the BrahMos project in Lucknow reflected India’s growing defence manufacturing strength. “Lucknow is not just my parliamentary constituency—it resides in my soul. What was once a dream has now become a reality. This project symbolises patience, hard work and determination,” he said.
He added that the facility will provide direct employment to hundreds and produce about 100 missile systems annually for the Army, Air Force and Navy. “By next financial year, the unit’s turnover will touch Rs 3,000 crore and contribute Rs 500 crore in GST revenue,” Singh said.
The Defence Minister also revealed that the BrahMos team had recently signed contracts worth Rs 4,000 crore with two foreign countries. “The entire world now recognises India’s defence capability,” he said.
Praising the state government, Singh said Uttar Pradesh had transformed from a law-and-order-challenged region to an investment destination. “There was a time when investors feared coming to Uttar Pradesh, but under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, confidence has been restored,” he said.
Adityanath, addressing the event, said the BrahMos facility was a milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a defence manufacturing hub under the Defence Industrial Corridor project. “With BrahMos, India can not only meet its own defence needs but also support its allies. This is the new India envisioned under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership,” he said.
Inaugurated on May 11, the Lucknow facility houses modern infrastructure for missile assembly, integration, and testing. After successful trials, the missiles will be deployed by the Indian armed forces.
