LUDHIANA, FEB 21 — The district police have registered a fraud case against a couple and their son for allegedly swindling a local resident of Rs 86.90 lakh. The accused reportedly lured the victim with the promise of a gazetted officer’s position in the Punjab Police and high returns on business investments.
The complainant, Parminderpal of Prem Nagar, stated that the family conspired to convince him they could secure a government job for his son, Naman Goyal, through the sports quota. Believing these assurances, the victim paid the substantial sum in various installments to the trio.
The suspects have been identified as Harjinder Singh, his wife Kulwinder Kaur, and their son Unique Singh, all residents of the New Shimlapuri area. Authorities affirmed that the family has absconded after failing to provide the promised job or refund the money.
“Neither was the son admitted to the position, nor were any benefits provided,” Parminderpal told investigators, adding that the accused began evading him once he sought a refund. Police officials noted that the case involves charges of fraud and criminal breach of trust. A search is currently underway to locate the fleeing family members while their financial records are being scrutinized.
