Chandigarh, 24 December 2024: Farmers protesting at Khanauri and Shambhu borders for the past 10 months have called for a Punjab Bandh on December 30, demanding various rights including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP).

The United Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have organized a meeting on December 26 at Khanauri border to ensure widespread participation from transporters, farmers, traders, employees, and other groups.

During the bandh, transport services in Punjab will be suspended from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Buses, trucks, and other vehicles will not be operational, and markets, commercial establishments, and shops will remain closed.

However, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher assured that emergency services, including healthcare and essential activities, will continue uninterrupted.

Pandher has called on several unions, including the Truck Union, Student Union, PRTC, Private Union, Mazdoor Union, Palledar Union, and Ex-Servicemen Union, to support the bandh.

Meanwhile, the fast unto death of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has entered its 29th day today.

As part of preparations for the Punjab Bandh, awareness campaigns will take place at various locations in Punjab on December 27.

Despite the bandh, essential services such as emergency medical needs and wedding ceremonies will remain exempt.
