Ferozepur, Jan 8: A family of four was found dead at their residence in Ferozepur on Thursday morning, with police suspecting a case of murder-suicide. Investigators believe a 40-year-old salon owner shot his wife and two minor daughters before killing himself.

The tragedy came to light around 10 am when the family’s domestic help found the main gate locked and received no response despite repeated knocks. Neighbours later forced entry and discovered the bodies of Amandeep Singh Sodhi, his wife Jasveer Kaur, and their daughters—Manveer (10) and Praneet (5). Police were immediately informed.

Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said a pistol was recovered from the scene. “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder-suicide. There are no signs of forced entry or an external attack,” he said. “The matter is being investigated with the help of forensic experts and CCTV footage.”

Police said Amandeep ran a salon in the Harman Nagar area and was also associated with finance and construction-related work. His wife Jasveer assisted him in managing the salon.

Residents of the locality said Jasveer was last seen walking in the neighbourhood around 7 pm on Wednesday and appeared normal. “She did not seem disturbed or under stress,” a neighbour said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and police said the exact sequence of events would be established after forensic and autopsy reports are received. “The motive is not yet clear,” the SSP added.
