Jaipur, Dec. 2 — Rajasthan’s CID (Intelligence) arrested a 34-year-old Punjab resident for allegedly collecting sensitive army information and sharing it with a Pakistani handler, officials said Monday.
Prakash Singh, also known as Badal, was detained near the Sadulwali military station in Sriganganagar district and later booked under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. “During surveillance, it emerged that Prakash Singh was in contact with Pakistan’s ISI through social media,” Inspector General (Intelligence) Prafful Kumar said.
Kumar added, “He was gathering classified details linked to the army in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat and transmitting them to a Pakistani handler.” The officer said Singh had been under observation as part of ongoing CID monitoring of suspected espionage activities in border districts since March.
Preliminary checks of Singh’s mobile revealed active communication with Pakistani numbers. “He had been in touch with the ISI since Operation Sindoor and allegedly shared information on army vehicles, military installations, border geography, bridges, railway lines, and ongoing construction,” Kumar said.
Officials also said Singh helped create Indian WhatsApp accounts for Pakistan-based operatives by procuring OTPs issued on Indian numbers. “He received money for facilitating these accounts, which were later used for espionage and anti-national activities,” the officer added.
Singh was questioned extensively at the central interrogation centre in Jaipur, and technical analysis of his devices confirmed the allegations. Further investigation is ongoing.
Since March, six people have been arrested in Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Alwar for similar espionage activities.
