Leh, Aug 18 — More than 100 workers from a Bollywood film unit were admitted to Leh’s SNM hospital after suffering suspected food poisoning late Sunday night, officials confirmed Monday.

The workers, who were not local residents, had been engaged in the shooting of an upcoming Bollywood movie in Leh. They were rushed to the hospital after several among them reported severe abdominal pain, vomiting and headaches following a meal at the location.

“Nearly 600 people had food at the set, and over 100 reported illness. Food samples have been collected for laboratory analysis,” an official said.

Doctors described the incident as food poisoning and said that timely response prevented the situation from escalating further. “After receiving the alert, we mobilised staff from all departments to handle the emergency,” a senior doctor at SNM hospital said. “The rush caused a panic-like situation in the emergency ward, and police were called in to help manage the crowd.”

Hospital authorities confirmed that the condition of all patients remained stable. “Most of them have already been discharged, while a few are still under observation,” the doctor added.

Officials assured that further investigation into the food served at the unit is underway.
