Nuh, Aug. 13: Five men have been arrested following a violent clash between residents of two villages on the Haryana-Rajasthan border in Nuh district, officials said on Wednesday. The arrests were made in connection with an FIR lodged at Ferozepur Jhirka Sadar Police Station.
The accused — identified as Lukman, Juber, Umardin, Sakrulla and Rustam, all from Alwar, Rajasthan — were remanded to judicial custody. Police have formed three teams to track down other suspects and are conducting continuous raids.
The incident took place on Tuesday in Mundaka village after a minor dispute over vehicle parking escalated into stone pelting, glass bottle attacks and arson, leaving several people injured. An angry mob also torched three parked vehicles.
Large contingents of police were deployed to the scene, bringing the situation under control. “Normalcy and peace have been restored, and the clash was not communal in nature,” Nuh Police said.
On Wednesday, a peace committee meeting was convened by Ferozepur Jhirka SDM Laxmi Narayan and DSP Ajaib Singh with representatives from Mundaka and Hajipur villages. Participants appealed to maintain harmony and ignore rumours.
Two companies of police remain deployed in the area, and officers are closely monitoring social media. “Strict legal action will be taken against anyone trying to spread rumours or disturb the peace,” a police spokesperson warned.
