Tarn Taran, 1 March 2025 — Five members of a family died after the roof of their house collapsed while they were asleep in Pandori Gola village early Saturday morning, police said.
The incident occurred at around 4:30 am due to the poor condition of the house and excessive weight from stored waste material on the roof, officials said.
Neighbors rushed the victims to a hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival. The deceased were identified as Gobinda (40), his wife Amarjit Kaur (36), and their children Gurbaj Singh (14), Gurlaal (17), and Ekam (15).
“The structure was in a dilapidated state, and the additional load on the roof caused it to collapse,” police said, adding that the bodies have been sent for postmortem.
