SAS Nagar, April 20: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, in coordination with the SAS Nagar Police, has apprehended four operatives belonging to a criminal module managed by handlers based abroad. Authorities confirmed the seizure of two foreign-made .30 caliber pistols and eight live cartridges during the operation conducted on the Ambala-Chandigarh Highway.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrests are a significant result of the ongoing state-wide campaign to enhance public safety. He declared that one of the individuals in custody, identified as Akshay alias Prince, was previously involved in the July 2025 murder of a showroom owner in Abohar, where he reportedly provided logistical aid to the primary attackers.

“The accused were tasked by their foreign-based handlers to carry out major crimes in the state,” SSP SAS Nagar Harmandeep Hans asserted. He maintained that the timely intervention by law enforcement has successfully averted several serious criminal incidents planned for the region.

ADGP AGTF Promod Ban affirmed that the team intercepted the suspects’ vehicle near the Janetpur link road following a precise intelligence input. The suspects, all residents of the Patiala district, were traveling in a sedan which has also been impounded by the police.

Officials noted that a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at the Dera Bassi Police Station. The department maintained that further investigations are active to uncover the broader network and anticipate more arrests in the near future.
