Chandigarh, 02 November 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has gained new strength as Chaudhary Gurpreet Singh, grandson of former Congress MLA Chaudhary Ram Ratan, officially joined the party today.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann welcomed Gurpreet Singh into AAP, with Member of Parliament Rajkumar Chabewal also present at the event.
Gurpreet Singh, who previously served as Youth Congress President for Chabewal, is seen as a significant loss for the Congress party. Additionally, Kulwinder Singh Rasulpuri, a long-time Congress leader and constituency in-charge from Chabewal, has also switched allegiance to AAP after a 35-year association with Congress.
These defections mark a considerable shift in Chabewal’s political landscape, further strengthening AAP’s influence in the region.
