Lucknow, Sept 29: Days after resigning from the Indian Administrative Service, former Uttar Pradesh-cadre officer Divya Mittal announced her decision to enter the political sphere in Uttar Pradesh without joining an existing political party.
In a video statement released on Tuesday, Mittal affirmed that she would remain in the state and continue raising questions on key systemic issues. Reaching out to the public, she declared her intention to serve as a voice for citizens whose grievances often go unaddressed.
The decision comes following her resignation from civil service after a 13-year administrative career. Having served as District Magistrate in Mirzapur and Deoria, she maintained that her experience in public administration would be utilized to build an independent citizens’ platform focused on everyday issues, including educational infrastructure, road conditions, agrarian matters, employment, and examination security.
Addressing her administrative tenure, during which she faced criticism from select political representatives regarding her operational approach, Mittal rejected assertions of covert political meetings and affirmed her focus on establishing a direct public connection.
