Gurdaspur, Jan 23: Security has been intensified in Gurdaspur after an organization sent emails threatening to detonate explosives at four local schools on Friday.
Local authorities immediately ordered the closure of the targeted institutions as police teams and forensic experts launched a comprehensive investigation into the origin of the digital messages.
The schools named in the threat are Jia Lal Mittal DAV Public School, Trinity Public School, Jawahar Navodeya Vidyalaya in Daburi, and Gurdaspur Public School.
According to the communication received by the school administrations, the sender claimed that bombs would be detonated on the premises at 1:11 pm.
The email included specific demands regarding upcoming national celebrations, stating that the “January 26 event should not be celebrated by hoisting the tricolor in any school because this tricolor caused the genocide of Sikhs.”
Police officials noted that all students were safely evacuated and sent home before the deadline mentioned in the email.
Security cordons have been established around the school perimeters while cyber cell experts track the electronic trail of the threats.
A senior official mentioned that the safety of students remains the top priority and a thorough sweep of the buildings is being conducted to ensure no suspicious objects are present.
