Pathankot, June 20: Four members of a family, including two children, were injured in a road accident near the Pathankot bypass on Friday morning when their car rammed into a stationary tipper truck on the roadside.
The incident occurred around 8 am, when a WagonR bearing Jammu and Kashmir registration collided with the rear of a tipper parked on the shoulder of the road. The car was reportedly en route to Chandigarh from Jammu.
The injured have been identified as BSF Head Constable Manish Kumar, his wife, and their two children. According to police officials, the woman sustained a serious head injury, while the children also received injuries of varying degrees. Manish Kumar did not suffer any major injuries but was described as being in a state of shock.
“The woman received a serious injury on the head. The children were also injured. The BSF jawan did not receive a major injury but is in a state of shock,” said ASI Gurmel Singh, who is part of the investigation team.
Eyewitness Rajkumar, an ambulance driver, said the car appeared to be moving at a high speed when it lost control and hit the tipper. “The vehicle suddenly swerved and crashed into the stationary truck,” he said.
The tipper driver told police that the vehicle had broken down and he was repairing it when the car struck from behind.
All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said that while an investigation is underway, no formal complaint has been lodged yet.
Authorities are also checking whether the parked tipper had proper hazard indicators or warning signs at the time of the incident.
