Chandigarh, Jan 20: The Punjab government will launch a door-to-door campaign to distribute Mukhyamantri Sehat Cards to every household, ensuring the entire registration process remains free of cost.
Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh announced on Monday that the government is taking full responsibility for reaching citizens to prevent any financial burden on the public.
The Minister noted that the initiative fulfills a major promise made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to provide quality healthcare to all. He mentioned that the state will bear the complete cost of the scheme, including card preparation and subsequent medical treatments.
To facilitate smooth enrollment, youth club volunteers will distribute tokens to households, which residents can use at designated centers along with their Aadhaar and Voter ID cards.
“The government is providing health cards completely free of cost and will deliver them door to door,” Dr Balbir Singh said during a press conference in Chandigarh.
He further added that anyone attempting to charge money or create fraudulent cards has already faced police action, and such vigilance will continue.
The government has already moved against exploitation in Muktsar and Mansa, where individuals were reportedly charging residents for the service. The Health Minister noted that the accused have been suspended and FIRs have been registered against them. He said that the administration remains committed to a transparent system where no citizen is cheated in the name of welfare.
