Shimla, Feb 7: Weather patterns in the western Himalayan region are set to shift as a fresh western disturbance is expected to arrive on the night of February 8. Local meteorological officials mentioned that the system will trigger varying levels of precipitation across the state over a 72-hour period, ending a brief spell of dry weather.

While the high hills may see isolated light rain and snow as early as February 9, the intensity is expected to increase shortly after. A broader spread of light to moderate snowfall is likely to cover several parts of the state on February 10 and 11.

“A fresh western disturbance is likely to hit the western Himalayan region from the night of February 8, causing precipitation at various places over the next three days,” weather experts noted in the latest forecast.

In the lower regions, residents should prepare for reduced visibility. The department mentioned a high likelihood of dense fog forming at various locations in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Mandi districts.

Temperature trends indicate that while minimum readings will remain stable for the next three to four days, the daytime maximum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Officials directly said that despite the incoming disturbance, no large change in minimum temperatures is expected in the immediate future.
